“And why worry about your clothing?
“Look at the (flowers) of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.
“And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, He will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?”
- Jesus (Matthew 6:28-30, NLT)
“What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man. When that happens, be happy! Yes, leap for joy! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, their ancestors treated the ancient prophets that same way.” (Luke 6:23, NLT)
Some shots I managed to get from my friend’s backyard. They are regular visitors there. This is a red-necked wallaby.
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not ALL his benefits!! (Psalm 103:2, NKJ)
Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, the God of our salvation! (Psalm 68:19, NKJ)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with EVERY spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. (Ephesians 1:3, NKJ)
The real children of Abraham, then, are those who put their faith in God.
What’s more, the Scriptures looked forward to this time when God would declare the Gentiles to be righteous because of their faith. God proclaimed this good news to Abraham long ago when he said, “All nations will be blessed through you.” So all who put their faith in Christ share the same blessing Abraham received because of his faith.” (Galatians 3:7-9, NLT)
O, how we can take things for granted.
This is the pair of Rainbow Lorikeets that have claimed our place. It was two years ago this week, that the first one, Lulu, came. We thought she must have been someone’s pet, because she seemed fairly tame, but not tame enough to touch.
So we gave her some bread and honey. She came back a couple more times, and then one day, she brought her friend. And then a few weeks later there were MORE friends!! The most I’ve counted at one time is 24.
Anyhow, none of the other lorikeets have become as tame as our two. And Lorri and Lulu visit us everyday lately. If we don’t come in a hurry, they will sit on the front door and look inside.
But, as beautiful as they are, they have become such commonplace around here, that I can tend to take them for granted, and forget what a blessing they are!!
O, how we need to so often remind ourselves, not to forget all God’s blessings to us, especially if we belong to Christ!! But how could we ever count them all??
These are pictures I took a few months ago on a visit to Timbertown in Wauchope on NSW Mid North Coast. I was so impressed by this display, and learned a lot about bullock teams and yokes and burdens. So many spiritual lessons one could apply to it!!
I have a lot I’d like to say, so please watch this space….
At last, I’ve managed to get some sheep pics. I’ve been meaning to for ages. So as it happened, yesterday I had to take a drive in the countryside.
As I drove into this tiny village, I remembered one small farm that had nearly every farm animal you could think of. I’d seen camels and donkeys there before, and that was what I was really interested in. But seeing I couldn’t see any of those, I had to settle for the sheep and cow, and a horse or two in the background.
Where I live, we have mostly cattle, so sheep are a special treat for us. So I am very pleased, even though I missed out on the camels. They’ll have to wait another day.
And for now, some inspiration from the Bible….
Psalm 28:9, NKJ
Save Your people,
And bless Your inheritance;
Shepherd them also,
And bear them up forever.Psalm 95:6-8, NKJ
Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.
For He is our God,
And we are the people of His pasture,
And the sheep of His hand.
Today, if you will hear His voice:
“Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion,
As in the day of trial in the wilderness.”Psalm 100:3, NKJ
Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.Psalm 107:41-42, NLT
(The Lord) rescues the poor from their distress
and increases their families like vast flocks of sheep.
The godly will see these things and be glad,
while the wicked are stricken silent.Isaiah 40:10-11, NLT
Yes, the Sovereign Lord is coming in all his glorious power. He will rule with awesome strength. See, he brings his reward with him as he comes. He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.Isaiah 53:6, NLT
All of us have strayed away like sheep. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the guilt and sins of us all.1 Peter 2:25, NLT
Once you were wandering like lost sheep. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.Matthew 9:36, NLT
He felt great pity for the crowds that came, because their problems were so great and they didn’t know where to go for help. They were like sheep without a shepherd.Matthew 18:12-13, NLT
If a shepherd has one hundred sheep, and one wanders away and is lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others and go out into the hills to search for the lost one? And if he finds it, he will surely rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didn’t wander away!1 Peter 5:2-4
Care for the flock of God entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly—not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God. Don’t lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your good example. And when the head Shepherd comes, your reward will be a never-ending share in his glory and honor.Hebrews 13:21b, NLT
Jesus is the great Shepherd of the sheep by an everlasting covenant, signed with his blood. To him be glory forever and ever. Amen.Revelation 7:16-17, NLT
They will never again be hungry or thirsty, and they will be fully protected from the scorching noontime heat. For the Lamb who stands in front of the throne will be their Shepherd. He will lead them to the springs of life-giving water. And God will wipe away all their tears.”
